watch workshop

At both the showrooms centers of excellence are filled with the latest equipment, all of which is used in the meticulous testing and servicing of your fine timepieces. Rudells are delighted to have two of the countries top watchmakers looking after your prized possession. Both Martin Butcher (Wolverhampton) and Maurice Ballard (Harborne) have many years of experience in servicing and maintaining fine watches and both are qualified WOSTEP trainers - this means that they are so highly qualified and experienced that they are able to train new or less experienced watchmakers to the very highest standard. Both Martin and Maurice are members of the British Horological Institute.

Our watchmakers and workshops are accredited by the major watch houses including Patek Philippe, Rolex, Cartier, Omega, Breitling and Tag Heuer. This means that we are able to conduct all manner of servicing and repairs in-house but to the very same exacting standards set by the watch houses themselves. The major benefit to you of our ability to carry out all of your repair/servicing needs is that we aim to return your watch to you much sooner than any of the manufacturers.

In 2013 Rudells were delighted to launch what we believe is an industry first. With the benefit of modern technology, we now offer our clients the opportunity of viewing the dis-assembly of their timepiece in preparation for full service. Our watchmakers have the facility to video record this intricate process and the video can then be uploaded to YouTube. A link to the video can be emailed to you so that you can view it at a convenient time.

So whether its a simple battery replacement or a complete service, overhaul and refurbishment rest assured that your prized watch will be cared for by the very best watchmakers in the very best watch workshops - both of which are centres of excellence.

In line with our commitment to provide enviable levels of customer care and after sales excellence, we also provide our clients with a jewellery repair and bespoke design service. Our in house master goldsmiths have over 75 years of experience between them and both are highly experienced in general repairs, restoration, remodelling and cleaning of jewellery.

Mike Chadwick and Terry Williams sit side by side in the workshop as they have done for over 20 years. In this time they have provided a fantastic service which has truly enhanced the Rudells reputation for customer service and after sales care. No jewellery repair or remodelling job will phase this formidable duo as they have both worked in many areas of their specialist field. Terry originally trained in lapidary (the art of cutting and polishing gemstones), and went on to become a highly skilled mount maker.

Mike’s career started in bespoke work on gold watches and jewellery, encompassing all aspects of repair and restoration.

So we really are able to offer a comprehensive service to care for your jewellery collection - be it your latest contemporary piece or a family heirloom, handed down through the generations.

Newly engaged couples can enjoy a glass of champagne to celebrate their occasion while our goldsmiths tailor their ring to fit.

Caring for your precious jewellery and watch collection does not just encompass repairs and servicing. One very important area of jewellery and watch after care is Valuation. Many insurance companies put the responsibility of ensuring your items are insured for the correct value on the policy holder. At Rudells we have our own highly trained Valuer who is always on hand to offer guidance and advice when revaluation is required.

Gary Jones has nearly 40 years of jewellery trade experience. During this time he has studied extensively and is now very highly qualified in all areas of our industry. Gary is the holder of the Retail Jewellers Diploma (RJDip), the Professional Jewellers’ Valuation Diploma (PJValDip) as well as being a Fellow of the Gemmological Association (FGA) and he is also a qualified diamond grader (DGA). All of these skills enable Rudells to provide you with the most detailed and accurate Valuation.

This service firmly secures Rudells as one of the leading jewellers in the country as we now have 3 FGA and 4 DGA qualified members of staff.
